I worked as an audience engagement intern at Chalkbeat, a nonprofit network of newsrooms covering public education in the United States.

I connected Chalkbeat’s education reporting to new and exisiting readers through social media posts, social videos, and reader callouts. I also assisted with SEO, ensuring articles were able to find the most relevant readers through search.

I developed best practices and guidelines for promoting Chalkbeat stories on Reddit. These guidelines have helped the newsroom maintain relationships with these digital communities. My Reddit guide can be found here.

I’ve worked to build Chalkbeat’s Instagram Reels presence. I produced and hosted social videos, breaking down Chalkbeat stories in a snappy, explanatory format. I’ve written best practices that will help the newsroom continue production of these videos.
